Microsoft’s Live Search Cashback Scheme Fails To Move The Market Share Needle(August 28, 2008 TechCrunch)
After Live Cashback launched in May, Microsoft saw an initial one-month boost in its share of the U.S. search market (from 8.5 percent in May to 9.2 percent in June). But in July, its share slipped again down to 8.9 percent, according to comScore. Although we only have two months of full data (June and July) since launch to evaluate, it doesn’t look like Cashback is having any effect.
It is difficult to say at the current stage that Live Cashback program has succeeded though it is not possible to judge at a period of two months only.
It seems not to be able to buy the person who searches it with money.

Microsoft to power Facebook search ads(July 24,2008 CNET News.com)
In the coming months, Facebook will begin powering its Web search and related sponsored text links with Microsoft’s technology, in an expansion of a strategic relationship between the two companies.
Microsoft and Facebook seem to have expanded the strategic partnership relation this time though Microsoft sound Facebook on purchase by the news before.
Because competing Myspace cooperated with Google in the Web search field, Facebook might have opposed it.
Or, does this become the chance of the Facebook purchase by Microsoft?
I want to pay attention in the future.
