Google Turns On Text Ads In Google Maps(October 9, 2008 TechCrunch)

With Google’s stock down $100 in the past two weeks, the company all of a sudden isn’t so shy about pulling every advertising lever it can reach. So far this week, we’ve seen new click-to-buy buttons on YouTube (YouTubevertorials), AdSense for Flash games, and now text ads are appearing at the bottom of Google Maps.

I hear that this advertisement can make it jump to the Web site as well as the search advertisement according to the article.

It seems to be interesting if becoming new advertising that uses the map.

In addition, it introduces how much person uses Google Maps and how much page view arose in this article.

According to comScore, 131 million unique visitors worldwide checked out Google Maps in August. They generated 1.3 billion pageviews.

The advertisement might not have been applied to it though a lot of people were using Google Maps.

Two are thought as timing that Google applied the advertisement to Google Maps.

  1. Because stock prices fell.
  2. Because Google Map was used by people, and infiltrated well.

What advertising development will Google show in the future?

Lehman’s Online U.S. Advertising Forecast: Another $20 Billion In Growth By 2012 And Online Video Takes Off (August 13, 2008 TechCrunch)

Video ads are the hottest area of growth. Analyst Doug Anmuth thinks that online video ad spending will reach $1.1 billion this year (up 63 percent), and more than double to $2.4 billion over the next two years.
He also thinks that total advertising spending in the U.S. will go from $26.1 billion this year to $45.5 billion in 2012 (consequently increasing from 8.8 percent of total advertising spending to 13.7 percent).

It is forecast that the online advertisement expense will expand greatly according to Lehman Brothers Holdings.

Especially, it is forecast that it is a field where the video advertisement grows up most, and the online video advertisement expense will expand greatly.

It seems to have to make efforts to video in the future.
